Quick Start

Get Yooz Whisper running in 2 minutes.

Step 1: Download​

Get Yooz Whisper from the Mac App Store:

Join the TestFlight Beta

Mac App Store release coming soon!

Step 2: Launch​

  1. Open Yooz Whisper from Applications
  2. Look for the Whisper icon in your menu bar
  3. Grant microphone access when prompted
Menu Bar Location

The Whisper icon appears in your Mac's menu bar (top-right area). Look for the microphone icon.

Step 3: First Transcription​

  1. Click the Whisper icon in the menu bar
  2. Click the Record button
  3. Speak naturally
  4. Click Stop when finished
  5. Your text is copied to clipboard

That's it! Paste your transcribed text anywhere.

Step 4: Quick Settings​

Open settings to customize:

  1. Click the Whisper icon
  2. Click the gear icon
  3. Explore tabs:
    • General - Language, output preferences
    • AI - Enable Apple Intelligence features
    • History - View past transcriptions
    • Advanced - Technical settings
    • About - Version and support

First-Time Permissions​

Microphone Access​

Required for voice input:

  1. Click OK when macOS prompts for microphone access
  2. Or enable manually: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → Yooz Whisper

Accessibility (Optional)​

For automatic text insertion into apps:

  1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility
  2. Enable Yooz Whisper
  3. Text will now insert directly where your cursor is
Why Accessibility?

Without Accessibility access, transcribed text goes to your clipboard. With it, text is typed directly into the active app.

Basic Workflow​

Clipboard Mode (Default)​

  1. Position cursor where you want text
  2. Click Whisper icon → Record
  3. Speak your content
  4. Stop recording
  5. Press Cmd + V to paste

Direct Insert Mode​

With Accessibility enabled:

  1. Position cursor in any app
  2. Activate Whisper (click or shortcut)
  3. Speak your content
  4. Stop recording
  5. Text appears at cursor

Keyboard Shortcut​

Set up a shortcut for faster access:

  1. Open Whisper settings (gear icon)
  2. Go to General tab
  3. Click Set Shortcut
  4. Press your preferred key combination
  5. Use that shortcut to start/stop recording

Recommended shortcuts:

  • Option + Space
  • Control + Option + W
  • Fn + F5

Tips for Best Results​

Speaking Tips​

  • Speak clearly - Normal pace, clear pronunciation
  • Reduce background noise - Quieter environment = better accuracy
  • Say punctuation - "period", "comma", "question mark"
  • Pause briefly - Between sentences for better formatting

Environment Tips​

  • Use in a quiet room when possible
  • Reduce fan noise and background chatter
  • Built-in mic works well, but headset mics can improve accuracy
