Our Commitment
Yooz Whisper is built with a fundamental principle: your data stays on your device. We designed the app from the ground up to ensure your voice, transcriptions, and usage data remain completely private.
What We Do NOT Collect
Audio
- Your voice recordings are never uploaded
- Audio is processed on-device only
- Recordings are immediately discarded after transcription
- No audio is stored anywhere
Transcriptions
- Your transcribed text stays on your Mac
- We cannot see what you dictate
- Text is stored only in local app storage
- No cloud backup of transcriptions
Personal Information
- No account required
- No sign-up or login
- No personal data collection
- No email or contact information needed
Usage Analytics
- No tracking of how you use the app
- No usage statistics collected
- No feature usage monitoring
- No crash reports sent (by default)
Other Data
- No location access
- No contacts access
- No file system access (beyond app storage)
- No access to other apps' data
How It Works
Local Processing Flow
Your Voice → Microphone → On-Device Processing → Text Output → Clipboard/App

Everything happens on your Mac:
- Microphone captures audio
- Apple's speech framework processes locally
- Text is generated on-device
- Audio is immediately discarded
- Text goes to clipboard or active app
No Server Communication
Yooz Whisper:
- Does not connect to Yooz servers
- Does not send data to any server
- Does not require internet for core features
- Works completely offline
Permissions Explained
Microphone Access
What: Access to your Mac's microphone
Why: Required to hear your voice for transcription
How we use it:
- Capture audio during active recording only
- Process audio immediately
- Delete audio after transcription
- Never store or transmit audio
Your control: Revoke anytime in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone
Accessibility (Optional)
What: Ability to insert text into applications
Why: Enables direct text insertion at cursor position
How we use it:
- Insert transcribed text where your cursor is
- Only active when you trigger transcription
- Does not read content from other apps
- Does not monitor keyboard input
Your control: Enable/disable in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility
AI Feature Privacy
Apple Intelligence
When using AI features (YOOZ Preprocess, AI Touch-Up):
- Processing uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models
- All AI runs locally on your Mac's Neural Engine
- Apple does not receive your data
- We do not receive any AI processing data
- No internet required for AI features
What Apple Sees
Nothing. Apple Intelligence is designed for on-device processing:
- Models run entirely on your Mac
- No data sent to Apple for AI processing
- No telemetry about AI usage
- Same privacy as non-AI transcription

Storage Location
All data stored in your Mac's standard app container:
- Protected by macOS sandboxing
- Encrypted at rest (with FileVault)
- Only accessible to Yooz Whisper
- Deleted when you uninstall

Core features work fully offline:
- Voice transcription
- AI features (after initial model download)
- Settings and preferences
- History access
When Online
Limited network activity:
- App Store updates (optional)
- Apple Intelligence model downloads (one-time)
- No Yooz server communication

Privacy Settings
In the App
Yooz Whisper doesn't have privacy settings because there's nothing to configure; privacy is built in. You cannot opt into data collection because we don't collect data.

Your Rights
Since we don't collect data, traditional data rights work differently:

How to Verify Our Claims
You can verify Yooz Whisper's privacy:

- Offline test - Disconnect internet; app works fully
- Activity Monitor - Check network activity is zero during use
- App sandbox - Verify limited file system access
