Transit help
Transit runs an Ubuntu desktop locally on your Mac. Use Linux apps, browse the web, and keep the guest's files in a virtual machine (VM). You do not need a Yooz account.
Starting virtual machines in the App Store version requires Transit Annual: $24.99/year in the US, with a 7-day introductory free trial for eligible Apple Accounts. Confirm the subscription with Apple to start the trial; Apple bills the annual price after the trial unless you cancel.
This guide describes the replacement Transit 1.0 being prepared for App Review, as of October 9, 2026. App Store approval and public availability are pending. Screenshots show real app components from reviewed development source with sample values. The review walkthrough identifies differences from submitted build 862.

What Transit supports
| Available workflow | Details |
|---|---|
| Mac host | Apple silicon Mac running macOS 26 or later |
| Curated desktops | Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Ubuntu 26.04 LTS |
| Linux apps | Apps installed in the Ubuntu guest, including Firefox and LibreOffice |
| Display and input | GPU accelerated desktop, mouse and keyboard, window and fullscreen modes |
| Files | Local VM disk and an explicitly selected Mac shared folder |
| Network | Guest internet access through the Mac; optional local SSH |
| Audio | Guest audio output, with mute/unmute |
| Advanced use | Compatible ARM64 Linux kernel, optional initrd and disk images |
Only one VM can run at a time. A paused VM still occupies that slot. Stop it before starting another VM.
Current limits
Windows apps through Wine, full Windows or macOS guest VMs, and agent control through MCP are future work. They are not supported workflows in Transit 1.0. USB passthrough, microphone input, a shared clipboard, and dragging files between macOS and Ubuntu are also unavailable. Use a shared folder to exchange files.
Resizing the Mac window scales the existing guest desktop proportionally. It does not automatically change Ubuntu's screen resolution. See display sizing before changing display settings.
Get help
Email feedback@yooz.live with the Transit version/build, macOS version, Mac model and the steps that led to the problem. The app's Help menu also provides short local instructions when you are offline. For logs, see export diagnostics. Review an attachment before sending it; diagnostics are never sent automatically.
