iOS Installation
Install Yooz Notes on your iPhone or iPad as a Progressive Web App (PWA).
What is a PWA?
A Progressive Web App gives you an app-like experience:
- Home screen icon - Launch like a native app
- Full screen mode - No browser chrome
- Offline access - Works without internet
- Fast loading - Cached for instant startup
Requirements
- iOS 16.4 or later (for best PWA support)
- Safari browser (required for installation)
- Internet connection (for initial install only)
Installation Steps
Step 1: Open Safari
PWA installation only works in Safari. Other browsers like Chrome or Firefox cannot install PWAs on iOS.
Step 2: Navigate to Yooz Notes
Go to: yooz.live/notes
Step 3: Open Share Menu
Tap the Share button at the bottom of Safari:
- iPhone: Bottom toolbar, square with arrow pointing up
- iPad: Top toolbar, same icon
Step 4: Add to Home Screen
Scroll down in the share menu and tap "Add to Home Screen"
If you don't see "Add to Home Screen":
- Scroll down in the share menu
- It may be in the second row of options
- Ensure you're using Safari (not Chrome)
Step 5: Name Your App
- Default name: "Yooz Notes"
- Edit if desired
- Tap "Add" in the top right
Step 6: Launch from Home Screen
Find the Yooz Notes icon on your home screen and tap to open.
The app now runs in full-screen mode, just like a native app.

- Notifications - Not supported on iOS PWAs
- Background sync - Requires app to be open
Offline Usage
How It Works
Once installed, Yooz Notes works offline:
- App shell cached - UI loads instantly
- Notes stored locally - IndexedDB persistence
- No server needed - Everything local
Offline Limitations
- Cannot sync (when sync feature arrives)
- Cannot access web links in notes
- New PWA updates require online access
Data Storage
Where Notes Live
Your notes are stored in:
- Safari's IndexedDB storage
- Linked to the PWA installation
- Persists across app restarts
Storage Limits
iOS allocates storage per origin:
| Condition | Storage Limit |
|---|---|
| Normal | Up to 1GB |
| Low disk space | May be reduced |
| Private browsing | Session only (don't use) |
Never use Yooz Notes in private browsing mode. Notes will be deleted when you close the browser.
Updating the App
Automatic Updates
PWAs update automatically when:
- You have internet access
- The app is opened
- A new version is available

Force an update:
- Close Yooz Notes completely
- Reconnect to internet
- Open the app
- Wait a few seconds for update
Checking Version
Look in Settings within the app for version information.
